The September, 2026, issue of Opalco's Ruralite magazine has the following on page 7:

A Plug-in Caution

A newer and more controversial option is plug-in, or balcony, solar. These small systems are marketed like appliances: Place a panel outside, connect a compact inverter and plug it into a household outlet.

"Existing residential wiring standards were not designed for generation through standard outlets," says Jeffrey Groenwold, senior energy solutions manager at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

Poorly controlled systems can overload wiring, affect power quality or sending electricity onto utility lines.

In addition:

Plug-in solar installations are typically 10 to 100 times smaller than the system we're considering.
Typical plug-in solar locations include balconies, backyards, patios, flat rooftops and exterior walls. It is questionable whether there is an appropriate location at the hall that gets good sunlight and that we want to take up with solar panels.
